About Crystal Colloidals

Most colloidal copper is not what it claims to be. Crystal is.

Most products sold as colloidal copper are ionic copper or copper compounds — copper sulphate, copper chloride, or copper proteinate — and the difference matters. A copper ion is a charged form of the metal rather than the metal itself; it behaves chemically like a dissolved compound and reacts readily with other elements. Metallic copper does not dissolve in water. Ionic copper does, because the ionic form is water-soluble.

Genuine colloidal copper is different. It contains actual metallic copper nanoparticles, suspended in water rather than dissolved into it. Producing it properly requires specialised equipment and a controlled process to keep those particles intact, stable, and evenly distributed without clumping or settling. It takes longer and costs more, which is why most producers take the simpler route.

The light green-yellow colour of Crystal Colloidal Copper is the most direct evidence of what is inside. Copper nanoparticles in suspension absorb and scatter light to give the liquid its characteristic hue. Crystal has been producing genuine colloidal copper this way since 1998, and every batch is independently verified before it reaches you.

Questions and answers

Everything you need to know

What is the difference between colloidal copper and ionic copper?
Ionic copper is a solution of dissolved copper ions in water — typically copper compounds rather than free metal. True colloidal copper contains actual physical copper nanoparticles suspended in water. The vast majority of products sold as colloidal copper contain ionic forms. Crystal contains genuine 99.99% pure copper nanoparticles, 20 nm in size. Those particles produce the characteristic light green-yellow colour of true colloidal copper. A clear product has nothing in suspension to produce that colour.
Why is 10 PPM better than 500 PPM?
PPM measures copper concentration by mass and nothing else. A high PPM number tells you nothing about particle size, particle count, or whether the copper is ionic or colloidal. Our 5 PPM formula with 20 nm particles contains stable, well-distributed copper nanoparticles in suspension. The number on the label is not the whole story — particle size and stability matter more.
What if I do not notice any effect?
Individual experience varies considerably. What we can guarantee is the quality of what is in the bottle: particle size, particle content, purity, and the absence of any additives. Our lab certificates confirm this for every batch. If you have questions about application methods or personal use, we are happy to help via our customer service team.
How do I verify this is genuine quality?
Three things. First, the colour: genuine colloidal copper is light green-yellow. A clear product is ionic, not colloidal. Second, the absence of foam: shake the bottle vigorously, persistent foam above the liquid means protein binders are present. Crystal produces no foam. Third, our downloadable lab certificate, available on this page, shows the Dynamic Light Scattering particle measurement data and ICP-MS concentration data for the specific batch — measured by the Institute of Public Health in Ostrava (ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, AZL 1393).
Why is the liquid green-yellow?
Copper nanoparticles in suspension absorb and scatter visible light to produce the characteristic light green-yellow hue. The colour is the direct visual indicator of genuine colloidal copper content. A clear or blue product labelled colloidal copper is almost always ionic copper or a copper compound — both are dissolved solutions, not colloids, and both lack the metallic copper nanoparticles that produce the colour.
What does your satisfaction guarantee cover?
We stand behind every bottle we make. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, contact us and we will make it right. That might mean a replacement, a refund, or simply taking the time to answer your questions properly. We have been making this product since 1998 and our confidence in it is genuine. If it does not meet your expectations, we want to know.
What does for external use only mean?
Under European Regulation EC No. 1925/2006, colloidal copper cannot be sold as a dietary supplement or food additive in the EU. This means we are required by law to label this product for external use only. This is a regulatory classification about how we can market the product, not a statement about its composition. We encourage you to research independently and speak with a healthcare professional with any specific questions.
